Intro
“&Twice” is the second full length album in Japan and third album overall by mega group, Twice. This album was released during their “Twicelights” world tour in 2019 and was reissued in 2020 with a new song called “Swing”.
Good
What I loved about this album is that all the songs are a fresh batch of new original songs. None of them are Korean songs translated into Japanese.
All the songs are listenable from top to bottom. They’re also all really catchy as well. They’ve been able to capture what makes Twice so special internationally with a splash of catchy JPop sounds which is a recipe for success.
The songs I really loved were “Happy Happy” and “Fake & True”, but the secret best song is “Polish”. You should definitely give that song a listen.
Bad
If you’ve read my past reviews on Twice albums, I’ve always had a disdain for a lot of their b-sides but always gave them props for writing lyrics for the songs. On this particular album, none of the members wrote any of the songs. J.Y. Park himself didn’t write any of the songs. I hope that eventually members of Twice create a work of art that they can truly call their own to share to the world.
Overview
Although this album doesn’t have my favorite singles, it might actually be my favorite Twice album which also includes EP. It just has more replay value all the way through. I feel like this album is overlooked by the fans mostly because it didn’t have that one single that drops jaws like their Korean EPs. This album feels fresh and new unlike their first Japanese releases which were Japanese versions of their Korean hits.
