Intro
Girls’ Generation-Oh!GG or just Oh!GG for short was created as the second official sub-unit of SNSD comprising of the remaining members that stuck around with SM Entertainment after the departures of Tiffany, Sooyoung, Seohyun, and Jessica. Members Taeyeon, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Yoona opted to stay with SM Entertainment as the remaining five members of Girls’ Generation.
Good
This release contained two songs which included the titled track and the b-side song called “Fermata”. I feel that as a five-member unit each would get a few more lines to sing and would also each get more focus as an individual. It’s tough to gain a spotlight on oneself in a nine-member group which means each member now has to step it up more.
I really enjoyed “Fermata”. Throughout the entire discography of Girls’ Generation, this is one of their better b-side songs. It has a simple feel. The girls harmonize together pretty well. It is easy on the ears.
Bad
I wasn’t too fond of their single, “Lil’ Touch”. It felt generic and easily could have sounded like a rookie girl group’s debut single or something. It felt forgettable and bland. The song doesn’t hold up years after the release and was only decent for the time it was released. Maybe had they had another b-side song to support this specific release, it would have felt worth purchasing.
Overview
Will Girls’ Generation ever be at full strength as a nine-member group? That remains to be seen. For now, roughly half of SNSD is better than none at all. It is felt that certain members are missing. I am curious about what they would have down the road when they decide to release more songs and what the vibe would be.
