“Girl Shaped Love Drug” (2012 British movie) review

Once again at the 2013 season of Cinequest, I watched yet another movie without knowing the synopsis.  I also watched it because it fit according to schedule, and I was in the area already.

This movie follows a guy as he builds relationships with various people especially one that he is seriously eyeing.  After encountering her a few times during the course of the day, he decides that she is worth pursuing.  We are also privileged to hear his philosophical views on life.

The acting and dialogue was pretty good.  There were a lot of emotional tensions.  Obviously, most of the acting was just between 2-3 people.  We can easily establish the relationships between the parties.

I know the black and white was intended as an artistic thing, but holy geez!  Black and white movies often make me sleepier by the minute especially since there was no main action during the majority of the movie.  Some of the conversations also felt like they dragged out a bit long.

Well, it wasn’t entertaining because I wasn’t entertained, but it did enough to keep me intrigued.  The execution worked well.  The entertainment value was not there though which is what I look for in a movie the most.

Overall rating: 3/5
