Series: Karas: The Prophecy
Studio: Tatsunoko Productions
Year: 2005
Intro
As a person searching for something interesting on Netflix to watch, I came searching in the anime section and came across a name that was familiar. That name was “Karas” which was one of the coolest characters in the Tatsunoko universe.
Plot
In Japan, a city is haunted by demons and other scary creatures, a war is raging on with the demon Eko versus Karas. Eko lives in a human form and feeds on the blood of other humans. Karas in addition to his deadly sword can transform himself into deadly, heavily armed, and massive vehicles. The future of humanity is up to Karas who must fight against all forces of evil to ensure the safety of everyone.
Good
The animation is wonderful in this 2005 flick especially when going into the fight scenes when it goes from traditional animation to CGI. It definitely highlights Karas as a badass character. It also helps make the fight scenes stand out. Besides, any anime that involves characters with swords is usually pretty awesome.
Bad
The story takes some time to build up during the course of various episodes. It’s a disadvantage for those that are unfamiliar with the storyline of that universe. If you’re unfamiliar with Karas beforehand, then you’re pretty much screwed especially if you’re trying to get into the cool series. That’s one of my problems with getting into anime and choosing what series to watch or not.
Overview
I had gotten into these special three episodes scrunched up into one movie because I’m a fan of the Nintendo Wii fighting game, “Tatsunoko vs Capcom”. That’s how I got myself familiarized with Karas as an evil looking dude with a sword even though he’s a good guy. Even his super was seen in the movie which made it cool. By playing this game, I got to learn about Tatsunoko Productions and its characters like Yatterman and G Force. After watching the movie and seeing what Karas can do, I thought to myself, “Yup, that’s Karas for you except he doesn’t have low health like in the game”.
