Artist: Twice
Album: “#Twice” EP
Label: Warner Music Japan Inc.
Year: 2017
Intro
As of 2017, Twice is the most popular girl group in South Korea. How would that translate into a new market? Can they succeed in Japan? Twice has members that are of Japanese descent. This EP marks their first stop into trying to conquer Japan.
Good
You pretty much get two versions of their biggest hits up to this point in both Japanese and Korean. A lot of people that buy music digitally only just get their singles anyways. This time, you get their most notable songs in Japanese.
Bad
With this EP being their Japanese debut, there were no new songs. They were all rehashes of their previous singles. They did not prepare anything exclusive for the Japanese market. Many of the KPop groups that had major success in Japan had Japanese exclusive content which could have benefited Twice as they’re now the definition of what a KPop girl group is now today.
Overview
If you own Twice’s entire discography before the release of this EP, I probably would advise against buying #Twice unless you’re a diehard fan or if you just happen to like Japanese a lot more. The Korean versions are already on their previous releases which means you really don’t need this EP that much.
