Got7’s “Got It?” EP review

Artist: Got7
Album: “Got It?” EP
Label: JYP Entertainment
Year: 2014

Intro

After catching their fan meeting event and their performance at KCON, I thought to myself why I didn’t have any of their music even though they did a great job live. They obviously have the stage presence, awesome performances, and appeal to many around the world. I didn’t know where to start since their discography was piling up really fast, so I thought I’d start at the very beginning with their first EP.

Good

Although “Girls Girls Girls” was the hit that put them on the map, the song that I actually really like just happened to be “I Like You”. The beat was pretty dope. These guys did a fantastic job utilizing hip-hop elements into their music. They made it work whereas many other groups make it seemed force. It worked for them. The first song, “Hello” felt pretty hard to me.

Bad

“Follow Me” felt pretty generic. It didn’t stand out as it sounded like a throw away song. “Like Oh” actually started off extremely well, but it started to drag out once the song officially kicked in. “Playground” was also meh to me which puts it at three consecutive songs I did not enjoy to end the EP.

Overview

Pretty much I really enjoyed the first half of this EP. I could do without the second half. This is the first EP of Got7 so they’ll have plenty of time to evolve over the course of the next few years. I know that they are talented since I’ve seen them live a few times.
