On June 30th, 2017, for the first time ever, Anime Expo held a concert on Day 0 which ended up being this one that I attended. It also marks the first time ever that there would be two Anisong World Matsuri concerts. This one was the Japan Kawaii Live which consisted of anime idol groups. The four groups that were scheduled to perform included Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls, Wake Up Girls, Junna and Minori Suzuki from Walkure, and Aquors.

Realistically, I only attended to see Aquors having been getting familiar with the group from Love Live Sunshine. I had the opportunity to see some of the members at AX2016 but opted not to since I had not seen the series yet. After watching Sunshine, I found that I liked some of the songs which meant I had more of an incentive to attend.

I wasn’t familiar with the other groups, but what usually happens to me is if an artist does a great job with their performance, I usually become a fan afterwards which is what I was hoping for with all of them.

I can’t really break down all of the performances since I didn’t know what songs were performed, but I can say that I really did enjoy myself despite being behind with the knowledge of most of the artists’ discography. It was just an amazing feeling to be in a sea of colors depending on the artist singing.

The headliners just happened to be Aquors, and all nine of the members showed up. Everyone was excited, and it easily is one of the most hyped moments I’ve ever experienced in a concert. Everyone was so synchronized with their lightsticks. They performed their most popular hits, but I was hoping for some of their other songs which would have made me super excited. Besides the Aquors songs, all the subunits have songs I absolutely love. It was exciting nonetheless.

It was an amazing show where I just happened to lose my voice. This concert really did set the tone for what was to be an amazing weekend at this anime con.
