Album: “Pink Memory”
Label: A Cube Entertainment
I bought this album when it was announced that they were going on a North American tour a few years back. This also occurred when I was trying to get their entire discography up to that point. I knew that they release songs that I liked which is why I wasn’t too worried whether or not it would live up to certain expectations.
I feel like without shedding what made them popular, they were able to mature. Some members like Chorong, Eunji, and Hayoung penned lyrics to the album which actually were among some of the best on the album songs I liked besides the singles that you should be on the lookout include “Deja Vu”, “Attracted to U”, “What A Boy Wants”, and “I Do” which could have all been songs the label could promote.
I feel like this is the first step towards achieving their goal of being more than Korean idols. They’re on their way to being true artists, but not quite yet. I think they’re getting there when more members besides Chorong are writing some of the songs. I really want to see more of them taking ownership of their own music such as writing more songs and maybe work behind the boards.
To be honest, I didn’t really enjoy this album until after the “Pink Memory” concerts. I felt the energy from the live performances which I felt later in the songs. I didn’t feel the emotions in the songs when I initially bought the album. I did enjoy “Pink Memory” a lot more in recent memory when listening to my KPop collection of music.
