Artist: G-Dragon
Album: One of a Kind EP
Label: YG Entertainment
Year: 2012
Intro:
In the midst of promoting Big Bang’s “Still Alive” and going on the “Alive” world tour, G-Dragon found the time to release his solo EP called, “One of a Kind”. He was even able to promote his solo songs even with the promotion of his group’s activities.
Good:
G-Dragon showed that in terms of writing and composing, he is as versatile as anyone in the world of KPop. He was able to switch it up from the rapping to the singing. He was able to showcase new singers and was able to carry songs by himself. He was not reliant on the big named YG artists like the other Big Bang members or anyone from 2NE1.
Bad:
For those that were hoping for appearances from the Big Bang fellow mates, it did not happen. It was G-Dragon only to showcase his own skills as an artist.
Overview:
Like what happened during his “Heartbreaker” promotions, it helped establish G-Dragon as a standalone artist. He was able to branch off of Big Bang as his own man. After the “Alive” world tour, he was able to go on his own domed tour going through out many giant venues in Asia.
I myself got the EP because of the many diverse songs. Each of the songs can easily be a hit throughout Korea and the rest of Asia. My personal favorite song on the album is “Missing You” since it had that down tempo feel.
Overall rating: 4/5
