Artist: Taeyang
Album: “Hot”
Label: YG Entertainment
Year: 2008
Intro
After checking out Taeyang’s concert back in December 2013, I felt I should check out some more of his music. I think he did an absolutely great job standing on his own after finding success with his Big Bang mates with a different sound, style, and look. I felt he had his own personality which can be spotlighted on with a solo project.
Good
I’d say, it’s one of the better EPs in KPop I’ve ever heard. If there’s ever a pet peeve I’ve had with buying music, it’s finding album fillers, and “Hot” contained none of it which was fantastic.
I’d break it down into two parts. The first half was more of a adrenaline boosting, dance heavy, blood pumping feel while the second half contained that smooth R&B sound that can melt hearts instantly.
Bad
To be honest, the bad part of this EP was the end because I really did enjoy it 100%. I think he had the potential to do more but wanted to see if he can actually succeed on his own which he passed with flying colors.
Overview
Although you can feel a slight presence of Big Bang in this album, you know it’s Taeyang only. He proved that he has a bright future ahead of him in terms of building his own brand. His EP only shows a glimpse of his potential in the KPop game.
