On March 3rd, 2017, the headquarters of Facebook hosted Hackerfight VI which was a battle of tech companies and startups to see who would reign supreme. You had many small companies rubbing elbows with the likes of Facebook, Twitch, and Google in two different tournaments. The tournaments that were happening were 3v3 Street Fighter V and 3v3 Super Street Fighter II Turbo. The event was streamed by Team Sp00ky.

Both tournaments were being ran Pokemon style which meant winner stays on. It would happen until the other team is eliminated. The Super Turbo tournament was invitation only while the SFV was open as long as a team was registered. There were some renegade teams for those companies that couldn’t field a full team. Some teams were stacked with actual professional players while there were many dark horse teams.

The hospitality was amazing. All guests were given event t-shirts along with shot glasses. Guests were also served food, soda, bottled water, and beer. Not only were guests treated to food there, but also had full access to their kitchen and were allowed to eat things like cereal and milk, yogurt, coffee, candy, chips, and cottage cheese.

Although competing individually is fun, nothing beats the feeling of being part of a team. Sturdy Pine did send a team out there, so it was really awesome to represent this organization and to beat some of the bigger names in technology. If given the opportunity, it’s a must to attend as the event and venue do know how to make everyone feel at home.
