E-Girls’ “Love Queen” EP review

Artist: E-Girls
Album: “Love Queen”
Label: AVEX Entertainment
Year: 2017

This marks the first single and EP from E-Girls as an eleven-member unit after the departures of many members like Dream Ami, Dream Shizuka, and many more. Many of the vocals will fall on Yuzuna, Karen, and Reina. Everyone will officially have bigger roles since the spotlight trimmed down a bit.

Although “Love Queen” was the lead single, all four songs were pretty fun. They went back to that “Colorful Pop” era where it was heavily influenced by disco and pop. “Smile for Me”, “Tomorrow Will Be A Good Day”, and “Piece of Your Heart” were all pleasing to the ears as B tracks, and the current main three vocalists did a great job.

Although Reina, Karen, and Yuzuna held it down in the singing department, the voices of Dream Shizuka and Dream Ami are missed since they did have distinctive voices and would have been positive additions to this album. It also felt a bit empty with their absences since they both played vital roles during their times with the group.

It’s a good step forward with this new lineup. Although the former members will be missed, they showed that they have what it takes to carry on the legacy that was built over the last several years. Many members have grown and matured to take the torch from the former members and have shown they are more than capable of standing on their own.
