On July 4th, 2018, at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California at LA Live on Day 0 of Anime Expo, Anisong World Matsuri presented a concert featuring the girls of Love Live Sunshine, Aquors. For some members, it’s their third consecutive year attending Anime Expo and for everyone else, it’s a return to the scene of their last concert in America. This time, they had the stage all to themselves as they didn’t have to share the stage with anyone else that night. It was all Aquors and Aquors only in the heart of LA Live.

During this concert, they did perform songs that they did the year prior, but this time they added additional performances of songs that weren’t performed the year prior. Some of the songs they performed live were pretty new. What made this concert much better than the previous year besides being the sole performers was this time, they performed songs from their subunits: CYaRon!, AZALEA, and Guilty Kiss. Some of my favorite songs from Love Live Sunshine were from these subunits, and I was pleased to see it performed live as it felt like there was so much more energy for it being live.

Weeks before this concert happened, social media such as Facebook and Twitter were trying to get attendees to create the rainbow full of lightsticks. Each member is represented by a color so every few rows would be a different color to establish a different member, hence creating a rainbow. During the latter stages of the concert, the members saw it being executed perfectly and were taken aback. They were even caught in tears due to being moved by the love and support they were getting from their American fans.

I personally enjoyed this concert because it didn’t feel like a repetitive concert from the year prior. It felt like a new concert with welcomed additions. Even though I was in the audience, I felt like I was a part of the actual show partaking in the rainbow of lightsticks.
