On January 12th-14th, Tokyo Auto Salon held their annual event at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, Japan just a short travel from Tokyo. Tokyo Auto Salon is the biggest event for import cars. What makes Tokyo Auto Salon different than many car shows is that people travel from all over the world to be a part of this event from attendees, photographers, models, vendors, and sponsors. The major names in cars such as Mercedes Benz, Nissan, and Honda all want to be a part of this spectacular event.
Upon entering, the venue was huge. Almost every stop had something worth visiting whether it be a beautiful model, an awesome car, or free swag bags. There was a stage featuring models that looked like they were in cosplay competing in what looked like a contest. Many models had hundreds of photographers surrounding them taking their pictures. I thought that we had completed the venue only to find out that we were only in the secondary building and that the big room was a short walk away.
There was a concert venue featuring idols and artists such as Beverly. I opted not to attend this concert due to wanting to see everything else and not being familiar with any of the artists at the time.
The main event area featured eight halls full of booths and major players in the car industry. It was many times bigger than the first hall with more things. There were panels with top race car drivers and almost every major car company had an impact. Many booths did a killing on merch sales.
Every model was beautiful and did an awesome job being willing to pose for pictures for so many hours. Some had terrific attire while others were representing their brands. At various times, it was hard to take pictures due to the mobs of people also wanting to do the same thing. It also felt like there were infinite amounts of models.
In various places around the venue, there were stages for idol concerts. I did miss the concert so I stuck around for some performances which caught my attention very easily.
By far, Tokyo Auto Salon is the greatest car show I’ve ever attended and probably the best one in the world. In terms of cars and models, only the best of the best get the privilege of being a part of Tokyo Auto Salon in my opinion. I had a blast and this event had something for everyone. It took hours and hours to navigate through all the venues. I’m not a car person whatsoever, but there were so many fascinating things there and hope I could make it back one day.
