Label: JYP Entertainment
At one point, 2PM was one of the most dominant boy bands in all of KPop and were the ace group of JYP Entertainment despite a few hiccups along the way. Although they’re currently inactive as a group in 2019 due to various members fulfilling mandatory military service, many fans are clamouring their return. Previously, we also covered their “Grown (Grand Edition)” but this time, we’ll just go with “Grown”.
I actually really like this album. I feel like they put their all into making “Grown” which shows as their music has evolved. Their ballads were really good. Their b-sides were worth sticking around.
There were many notable songs outside of their two singles “Comeback When You Hear This Song” and “A.D.T.O.Y.”. “I’m Sorry” and “The First Date” had a R&B vibe and “Dangerous” also fits the mold but has a bit of funk in it. “Zero Point” was feels like a concert song that you have to experience live in person like during one of their encores. “One More Day” proved that 2PM can carry on the ballad mantle that 2AM left behind. “Game Over” really sounded like a very epic song and definitely should have had an accompanying music video to go with it. “Go Back” has that classic 2PM vibe like when they debuted.
This is one of the rare times when the entire album, not an EP is amazing from top to bottom. “Grown” is one of the better albums in all of KPop. Everyone in the group gets a chance to sing or rap their part and not one person sounds the same. You know who sings.
It’s only a matter of time until the KPop world gets 2PM back as most of them went in around the same time with Nichkhun not having to go due to not being a Korean citizen. Eventually, they’ll find their way back to the top tier of their own label and all of KPop. They’ll show why they’re the “beastly idols”.
