Label: YG Entertainment
As a fan of Big Bang and their individual members, I felt that I should own this album. Taeyang did perform some of these songs before which I’ve seen live, so the songs do help me reminisce about the performances. YG artists seem to release quality projects nonetheless. This album also was a long time waiting as many VIPs have waited what felt like an eternity for the album to drop since “Ringa Linga” was killing it in the popularity department.
This album has a good mixture of downtempo R&B inspired tracks like “Eyes, Nose, Lips” and bass influenced bangers like “Ringa Linga”. When most KPop artists release full albums, they usually focus on promoting only one song. Taeyang has the backing on three promoted songs with “1AM” being his other single. The b-sides were also very strong as they could have easily been promoted as singles. “Body” could have easily been a lead single.
With G-Dragon and Teddy behind the boards, we all know that Taeyang would come out with a quality album. While we all waited for the full album, they all made sure that we got the best album quality.
I believe that this album has more of a stronger lead single than “Solar” but has a weaker rest of the album. Other than that, I can’t really think why this album would be consider bad. It has plenty of quality songs.
Sometimes the best things come out to those that wait. It was definitely well worth the wait. I felt that Taeyang and the folks at YG had to make a good quality album just for the fans that waited forever for more Big Bang content. “Ringa Linga” really helped Taeyang establish himself as a soloist with the awesome song and an even more awesome music video with top notch choreography.
