Super Girls’ “Hanamichi Ambitious” EP review

Artist: Super Girls
Album: “Hanamichi Ambitious” EP
Label: Idol Street
Year: 2014

At a time when I was trying to see what else is out there, I came across this group called Super Girls. I wanted to see what else was available besides AKB48, Morning Musume, Momoiro Clover Z, etc in terms of Japanese idol groups. I wanted to check out something new to see if I can find a group I can absolutely love. This was at a point where I was seeing what kind of music Japan has to offer since I felt like I went through a lot of the Korean groups, so I wanted to compare and contrast.

The two songs are pretty decent. Besides the titled track, the other song is titled “Hatsukoi Rabirinsu”. I happen to like both songs because they are both pretty energetic and would pretty stoked to see it live.

I feel like the titled song wasn’t intended to listen to live, but more to listen to during a live performance when you could feel the energy of the group and the crowd. Because I’m new to this group, I don’t know members. No voices actually stand out to me which I assume it’s for members that are interchangeable.

With a two track album, it’s hard to fully judge the entire album, so I could only judge the two songs. Until we get more music or a song that completely wows the listener, we have to stick with a modest three out of five rating.

Overall rating: 3/5
